How You Can Protect Yourself

Fraud Using E-mails & Web Sites
Personal protection from technology based fraud starts with a recognition of the extent of the threat and an awareness of the sources of risk you may face:

  • Insecure E-Mail. Start by recognising that e-mail is an insecure communication technology
  • Forged E-Mails. Next recognise that e-mail is easy to forge, as a consequence be cautious with any e-mail that appears to be from a friend or company you do business with if it requests personal information or suggests installing any software
  • Unsolicited E-mails & Pop-up Messages. Unsolicited e-mails or pop-up messages soliciting your personal information, e.g. your name, address etc., should be ignored
  • Phishing. "Phishing" is an Internet scam that involves sending 'spoof' e-mails, purporting to be from a well?known firm, inviting you to visit a Web site. The website is likely to look and feel like the real thing, however it is in fact a fraudulent site. Victims are asked to provide personal information or to install software on their computers, this software monitors your activities and sends useful information about you to the fraudsters
  • Accessing Web Sites. Only go to trusted Web sites that you have first accessed from a reputable source. Once you have accessed a site, add it to your browser's bookmarks / favourites list as a way of guaranteeing using the correct URL every time
  • Accessing Web Sites via an E-mail. If you receive an email containing a URL, don't click on the link, rather use either your personal bookmarks or type in the address yourself and then bookmark it

If you receive an e-mail from Evolution Securities China Limited that you believe to be fraudulent or visit an Evolution Securities China website that seems fraudulent, please forward details to 'feedbackform@evosecurities.com'. We will investigate and respond back to you.
