Neil joined ESCL in April 2005 and became Head of Research in September 2005. After 3 years with Price Waterhouse in Audit he moved into equity research with Cazenove in 1987, based in Hong Kong, and was Head of their Asian equity research team for 4 years. After two years in London with Cazenove's corporate finance team, he returned to Singapore. In late 1995, he became Head of Asian Telecoms Equity Research for Paribas and, in 2000, for Prudential-Bache Securities. In 2001, Neil returned to the UK to head the London-based Telecoms Research Team for BNP Paribas and spent 2004 in Riyadh to initiate a Strategic Investment programme for Saudi Telecom. | Peter Cartwright | |
|
Peter Cartwright works for Evolution China researching companies in the healthcare and related sectors. He has an MA and PhD from University of Cambridge (1964 – 1970) in the Goldsmith’s Laboratory for Materials Science. Peter worked with GEC research on a military sponsored programme between 1970 and 1973. He then joined the investment banking arm of Williams de Broë Limited in 1973 under an ‘Industry to City’ recruitment initiative. His subsequent career was based around core skills as a financial analyst (specialising in Life Sciences); he held various roles at WdB, including head of research, equity strategist, portfolio manager and corporate finance (IPO fund raising). Wei joined ESCL in October 2006, covering the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, having previously worked as a research assistant at J.P.Morgan Securities in Shanghai for a year. Prior to that, Wei was with Bristol-Myers Squibb for three years as a research scientist in the cancer research department. Philippe joined ESCL in September 2007. His career began in 1998 as a junior analyst with Robert Fleming Securities (later JP Morgan Chase) in Paris and London, where he spent nearly 3 years. He moved back to Paris in 2001, working as an analyst on French small and mid caps for Jefferies. In 2003, he returned to London to work for ABN AMRO’s European Small Cap research team as the senior analyst on France. | Matthew Gillmouth | |

Matthew Gillmouth joined ESCL in December 2006 as a research analyst. He first moved to China in 1999 to work for Federal Express and played an integral part in the firm's local development. Since that time, he has worked for various domestic and foreign shipping firms. Before coming to China, he worked in event management, arranging events in Hollywood and Washington D.C. Tom joined ESCL in June 2005 as Research Analyst. Tom previously worked for Nomura Securities in Taiwan where he covered telecommunications and retailing stocks. Prior to working at Nomura, he covered domestic demand-related industries first at Masterlink Securities and then at Capital Securities, both in Taiwan. Tom holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada, as well as a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto. Richard joined ESCL in September 2007 as the Office Manager in the Shanghai office. He has lived in Shanghai since December 1999 when he was employed as the Academic Manager of various private language schools. He later did stints as an editor for Oxford University Press in China and began freelancing as an editor for various companies. Richard was formerly in the Army as a Bomb Disposal Engineer, and worked on the Channel Tunnel project before relocating to China. He has a Masters in TEFL with Leicester University. Contact: |

David joined ESCL in July 2005 as a Research Analyst, and has lived and worked in Greater China since 1993. He has advised major companies seeking to invest in China, and his clients have included a European life insurer and consultants focusing on the mining, metals and power sectors. Previously, David managed Procter and Gamble's brand protection program in China. David holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Manchester Business School, studied at the Johns Hopkins Center for Chinese and American Studies in Nanjing, and gained an MA (Hons.) degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Edinburgh University. Helen Wang was office manager of the Shanghai office for 4 years until September 2007, when she transferred to the research team full-time. Helen is research assistant to the TMT team. Zhufeng Wang joined ESCL in Jan 2006 as a research analyst. Zhufeng worked in various parts of the China Resources Group for nine years, mostly based in Hong Kong. He started with China Resources as a business analyst in the real estate and hotel investment sectors, and moved on to their corporate development team. Before that, he worked for 8 years in various functions (marketing, sales and planning) within large consumer-oriented organisations, including Coca Cola, Nestle and Unilever. He obtained a Masters of Commerce degree in Finance (1st class honours) from the University of Auckland and a dual bachelor degree in Mechanics and English from the East China University of Science and Technology.
